SASFleet Tracking, part of the AROBS Group, launches Safe Drive AI, the first solution on the Romanian market to use AI to analyze the costs associated with driving behavior
- Safe Drive AI uses telematics data to analyze harsh acceleration, braking and cornering events and to estimate the costs associated with them.
- For a fleet of more than 700 vehicles, the estimated cost of aggressive driving can reach approximately EUR 7,000 in a single month.
- The solution helps fleet managers identify the behaviors that generate costs and track how they evolve over time.
Bucharest, September 29, 2026 – SASFleet Tracking, part of the AROBS Group and specializing in fleet monitoring and management solutions, is launching Safe Drive AI, the first solution on the Romanian market to use artificial intelligence to interpret telematics data and estimate the costs generated by driving behavior. The solution shows fleet managers where the biggest differences between vehicles lie and which behaviors are behind them.
“Artificial intelligence models are becoming increasingly accessible, so the difference is no longer made by the algorithm, but by the quality of the data and a deep understanding of the client’s problem. Companies already collect large volumes of data, but they need to identify the information that matters and know what action to take based on it. SASFleet Tracking has 25 years of experience in fleet monitoring and a client base that uses its solutions every day, and this is an advantage that is hard to replicate. Safe Drive AI directly reflects two of the pillars of the One AROBS 2025-2030 strategy, namely technological innovation based on AI and data, and the shift toward proprietary software products and strategic verticals. Following ODDO, the AI assistant in TrackGPS, this is the second major step we are taking in telematics this year, and our direction remains the same, integrating AI where it delivers measurable results for the client,” stated Voicu Oprean, Founder and CEO of the AROBS Group.
Safe Drive AI analyzes data on harsh acceleration, braking and cornering. Based on these events, the SASFleet Tracking platform calculates indicators and models the costs associated with aggressive driving. The artificial intelligence component then interprets the results, identifies patterns in driving behavior and flags situations where intervention may be needed. It can also highlight values that appear to result from an equipment fault rather than from driving behavior, thereby reducing the risk of decisions based on erroneous data.
For a fleet of more than 700 vehicles, the estimated cost of aggressive driving can reach approximately EUR 7,000 in a single month. On its own, however, this figure does not show whether driving behavior has changed or whether the vehicles have simply been driven less. A month with lower total costs may conceal more aggressive driving if the fleet covered fewer kilometers. This is why Safe Drive AI also tracks the cost per kilometer, so that results can be assessed in light of the distance travelled. Measured per kilometer, the differences between vehicles can be significant. In the fleet analyzed, some vehicles recorded a cost per kilometer up to 12 times higher than the average. Harsh acceleration was the main type of event among the vehicles with the highest values.
“Telematics tells us more than just the number of harsh braking or acceleration events recorded by a vehicle. Until now, much of this information was difficult to track and put into context, especially in a large fleet. With Safe Drive AI, fleet managers can see where certain behaviors recur, what costs they generate and whether the measures taken are having an effect,” stated Adrian Moldovan, Commercial Director, SASFleet Tracking.
The solution makes it possible to identify vehicles that repeatedly record high costs per kilometer, as well as the behaviors that contribute most to these costs. Instead of analyzing each vehicle’s data separately, fleet managers can see which situations should be prioritized and how they evolve from one period to the next. Based on the analysis, Safe Drive AI can recommend which vehicles should be monitored as a priority and which behaviors fleet-wide measures should focus on.
“Safe Drive AI thus builds on the strategic direction the AROBS Group is pursuing across its entire portfolio of fleet management solutions – TrackGPS, SASFleet Tracking and SVT Electronics – which is to use artificial intelligence to turn the data collected from fleets into insights that help our clients make concrete decisions. At Group level, it is the second AI-based solution launched in telematics this year, following ODDO, the virtual assistant integrated into the TrackGPS platform,” stated Ovidiu Bojan, Executive Director AROBS Telematics Solutions.
Data is anonymized before being processed by the artificial intelligence component. The component receives only a code assigned to the vehicle and the information required for the analysis, with no access to the registration number or the driver’s identity. The results are subsequently matched to the corresponding vehicle within the SASFleet Tracking platform.
SASFleet Tracking plans to extend the use of artificial intelligence to other aspects of fleet management. Areas under consideration include detecting breaches of statutory speed limits and assessing the associated risk, as well as tracking administrative obligations, so that companies can also understand the costs that may arise from overlooked taxes, permits or inspections.
SASFleet Tracking has 25 years of experience in fleet monitoring, during which it has monitored approximately 150,000 vehicles. Its solutions are currently used by clients in sectors such as transport, distribution, agriculture and services, with fleets of various sizes. The monitored vehicles cover a combined total of more than 1.1 billion kilometers annually, and Safe Drive AI builds on the expertise SASFleet Tracking has gained in analyzing this data.
