Cluj-Napoca, April 3, 2025 – AROBS Transilvania Software (BVB: AROBS), an entrepreneurial technology company listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange, is part of the largest digitalization project undertaken by a university in Romania, funded through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) – the DIGIHUBB project (UBB Digitalization: Equipping with digital infrastructure for teaching and research purposes), carried out by Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca (UBB).
As part of this project, a contract was signed for AROBS Transilvania Software to provide services for the development of a low-code IT system, with a total value of 11,828,600.00 lei. This system will support the university’s efforts to reduce bureaucracy, improve efficiency, and simplify procedures by digitalizing 250 internal administrative processes for the benefit of students and by creating an electronic registry and a digital archive.
“For AROBS, and for me personally, it is an honor to contribute to the digital transformation of Babes-Bolyai University. Together with other colleagues in the AROBS team, also UBB graduates like myself, we are committed to supporting this strategic project that uses technology to streamline educational and administrative processes, benefiting students, teachers, and the entire academic community. AROBS plays a key role in Romania’s digitalization by delivering concrete solutions and solid technological expertise, and this collaboration with UBB reaffirms our mission to be a trusted partner in projects with real and long-term impact,” stated Voicu Oprean, founder and CEO of AROBS.
Through this project, AROBS strengthens its presence in the B2I (Business to Institution) segment, showing a strategic interest in major digitalization initiatives of institutions in Romania, particularly in areas such as public administration, education, and national digital infrastructure.
“UBB students and staff will be able to initiate various documents and requests online, such as certificates, requests to suspend studies, course equivalency requests, tuition-to-budget transfers, fee refunds, accommodation requests, and many others, without having to physically come to the university or wait in line to submit them, and without the need for paper documents. Moreover, both the progress and resolution of these requests will be trackable online. All documents uploaded in these administrative workflows will be reviewed and electronically signed online. None of these documents will need to be printed, as they can be stored electronically in full compliance with legal regulations,” stated UBB Rector, Professor Adrian Petrusel, Ph.D.
The DIGIHUBB project focused on developing 15 laboratories dedicated to the modernization and digitalization of educational programs across Babes-Bolyai University’s six academic schools: (1) the Arts & Humanities academic/scientific school; (2) the Social Sciences academic/scientific school; (3) the Sciences & Life Sciences academic/scientific school; (4) the Health academic/scientific school; (5) the Engineering & Technology academic/scientific school; and (6) the Divinity academic school. Out of the 15 laboratories, 13 have already been equipped.
Additionally, the project has already equipped three transversal centers that will support the activities of all 15 laboratories and assist existing UBB units in areas where the university already holds competitive national and international advantages: (1) the EON-UBB-XR Center for the use of virtual, augmented, and mixed realities in academic work; (2) the UBB Hub for Innovative Technologies, supporting units dedicated to artificial intelligence, robotics, and cybersecurity; and (3) the UBB Business Incubator, focusing on process automation (e.g., RPA) and digital business/entrepreneurship. Two data centers, which have also been equipped, will serve as support units for all these structures.
To ensure better use of the acquired equipment and to enhance digital skills, the project has already carried out a first phase of digital skills training for teaching staff, auxiliary teaching and research personnel, as well as students.
